Evaluation on Installation Video.

In my evaluation I will talk about my idea that I created for my video installation: my idea was to tell a story (with meaning and heart full messages) but also to use visual beauty.  I started experimenting with different types of lights and props to get a strong solid idea but also to get inspiration.  I achieved this with my experiments in lighting, I enjoyed shooting my video installation with the content of the video being about colourful lights and scenery that showed trees, the sun, buildings and clouds.  I was utilising the beauty of the natural world and this created a natural and realistic effect.

It was a challenge but a creative challenge that was remarkably eye catching on how you could really open your mind to such creativity that is hidden in nature.  To shoot my installation video, I used a DSLR camera, shooting in video mode, using manual focus in order to create a sense of losing yourself in the lights, I used one light but covered it with soft cell paper; you can cover over the light in any type of colour e.g. purple, red or yellow as it changes the way the light performance is played and the mood. I used a variety of colours depending on the atmposphere I was trying to achieve.

When I went outside to shoot, I also used a DSLR Camera with focus in manual setting, I zoomed in and out while using the focus effect on the tree with the sun's light blooming through the trees.  This was fantastic and showed how, with little effect, nature creates its own beauty.

In the process of shooting I found only the lack of location hard but within the weeks I overcame the difficulties as I managed to find myself a room to creatively bring my idea into an installation video and the area of Westminster.

For the editing process I found it much easier due to that I collected my skills that I've learnt and imported into this video installation but I have learnt more skills during the system of creating this video such as opening my mind to new idea’s in a creative method, using cell lights, capturing video in focus and out to add effects straight from the DSLR Camera itself then later in editing.

The timing of finishing my production work was a good outcome that I'm happy with, I accomplished what I need to do with all my planning e.g. mood board, shoot list and mind maps. I am happy with my installation video because it shows visual meaning and meaningful statements and reality within nature and that is what I achieved. The feedback I received from others was that the lights had a good visual view with the different colouring and also that I expand my mind with the idea of using nature and every day scenery but with expanding the beauty and lighting in more depth.

This project itself was to show our creatively and active mind to be more outspoken which was a great way for me to learn about what I have learn't in the past two years in the course, the projects was an accomplishment and an enjoyable creative one too, I've learnt how to successfully make a installation on my own to a professional standard.

I projected my video installation in a creatively manner by creating a plain brown box in to a colourful and creative scenery in a box, where I projected my video installation in to this creative box I created it by painting the box using white, cream, blue, black, green, yellow and blue to create the sun, clouds, sky, mud and grass.

To conclude this evaluation, I think for me my installation was very imaginative and creative to a professional standard with having the loving side of  nature, which brag brightness and a calm, peaceful feeling and from the creative side of this video installation I have made is that I created a piece to project my video installation in that related to the content of the installation video.
