introduction to editing

Horro Movie;
• What is editing?
 Choosing different shots and putting them together to tell a story. • What is Elliptical editing?
implicit editing to tell the story quickly and cut out unnecessary bits out, the viewer fills in the gaps. its more efficient to condense time. 
• Why are long shots used?
 It reminds us she is alone and establishes the environment around her. 

• What is ‘non-diagetic sound’? 
It is music underneath natural sounds to create tension and unease or represent the feeling or emotions of the scene. 

• How do we know she is bending down to pick up the ring? (what shots are used and why?)

a close up of her faces cuts to her hand picking up the ring. she first looks down which implies she is attracted to something on the floor. This efficiency of editing keeps of it interesting and allows for the action to be very detailed. The viewer fills in the gap between the two shots.

overhead establishing shot- what does this achieve?
it shows a shot of all he chacters and the set scene, and outlines the situation. 


• What is Shot-Reverse-Shot?
having close ups of two people having a conversation.

• What is Eye-line matching?

when they match two people's eye line to show they are having a conversations.

• Why do we cut to the other members of the group?

to beep it interesting and show their reactions and expressions to what is being said. 

• What is a wipe?

effective way of way changing scene , transition.
• What is the effect of using quick cuts? 

Creates a fast rhythm, making the story along. keeps the audiences on their toes. its used to represent the urgency and efficiency of the characters actions. it creates energy and existent to the story.
